Mario Cassisa and Lea Oetken
The works of Sicilian Mario Cassisa and Zurich-based Lea Oetken are two artistic positions that, at first glance, could not be more different. Colorfulness, exuberance, abundance, diversity of materials and forms in Mario Cassisa’s work, reduction to earthy colors, focussing on glass in the “Doppelbildplastiken” as well as strict systematics and meticulousness in Lea Oetken’s installations. The tension between the two artists, who for all their differences meet where the boundaries of life and art are mutually interpenetrated, makes for surprising aesthetic contrasts.
